How to measure yourself
Five minutes with a soft tape measure can save a return. How to take the measurements our size guide uses.
You’ll need a soft tape measure, a mirror and light, close-fitting clothes. Keep the tape level and snug, but not so tight that it presses in.
- Bust
- Measure around the fullest part of your chest, keeping the tape level under your arms and across your shoulder blades.
- Underband
- Measure snugly around your ribcage, directly under your bust, keeping the tape level.
- Waist
- Measure around your natural waist, the narrowest part of your torso, usually just above your belly button.
- Hips
- Stand with your feet together and measure around the fullest part of your hips and seat.
- Inside leg
- Measure from the top of your inner thigh to the floor, without shoes. Easiest with a pair of trousers that fit you well.
- Foot length
- Stand on paper with your heel against a wall, mark the tip of your longest toe and measure from the wall to the mark.
- Ring size
- Wrap a strip of paper around the base of your finger, mark where it overlaps and measure the length in millimetres.
Using your measurements
Compare your numbers with the size guide. If your bust and hips fall in different sizes, choose by the part that matters most for the piece: bust for fitted tops and dresses, hips for trousers and skirts. Every product page also says whether to size up or down if you’re between sizes.
